Celebration of World Migratory Bird Day in southern Benin

2022, Benin

In Benin, birds and their habitats continue to suffer from human pressures despite multiple actions to reduce their impact. Habitat fragmentation, modification of natural habitats, increasing urbanisation of coastal areas, overexploitation of resources, hunting and pollution are all anthropogenic activities that constitute threats and contribute to the decrease of waterbird populations. For World Migratory Bird Day, our partners in Benin organised informative and engaging lectures and a treasure hunt for young people to raise awareness for the concept of bird migration and the threats they face along their journey.
