Training Tour Guides for bird tourism promotion in Sierra Leone’s coastal zone
Tourism is vital for the development of Sierra Leone and adopting ecotourism policies was needed not only to keep the tourism flow in the country but to also raise awareness of the importance of the area's wetlands for waterbirds. To achieve this goal, tourist guides followed off-site and on-site training workshops to understand bird watching and learn about waterbird monitoring, identification, and counting. This made them more knowledgeable about the techniques and methods needed for birdwatching tours.
