Synthesis of the current knowledge of the Bijagós archipelago as a key non- breeding area for migratory shorebirds of the East Atlantic Flyway, with recommendations for future research and conservation actions
Guinea-Bissau, 2020
The Bijagós archipelago is home to a wide variety of species. Given its importance, increased knowledge of the site is needed to help counter or mitigate future environmental threats. This document summarized the existing knowledge on the status of wader populations wintering in the site. It provides an overview of the important ecological traits for wintering shorebirds in that area and discusses its role in the conservation of the migratory wader populations at a flyway scale. This is needed to offer insight for improved management and conservation of the shorebird population.
